Wednesday is Digital Learning Day

This Wednesday, the 5th, is National Digital Learning Day sponsored by the Alliance for Excellence in Education. Digital Learning Day is about giving every student the opportunity to learn in a robust digital environment everyday, with the goal of success in college and a career. Teachers & administrators are urged you to make a difference with digital learning in their schools and support the effective use of technology to improve education for all students. You can learn more on the Alliance for Excellence in Education's event website.

You'll find a variety of suggested activities and other ideas for the classroom on the Alliance's site.  In addition, numerous other organizations are involved in promoting and supporting DLD.  Edutopia has compiled an extensive list of resources and ideas as has Tech Smith.
{Many of you are already familiar with Edutopia.  Tech Smith is a free site offering tools and ideas for teachers "...to solve everyday problems...[and] help you work faster and smarter."}

You can find a Facebook page (Digital Learning Day), to see what others are doing and share.  And there is also a Twitter feed at @OffiicialDLDay

For those who might be interested in the policy discussion about technology in education, there will be a virtual national conference from Library of Congress moderated by Judy Woodruff (of PBS Newshour). The conference runs from 2:30 to 3:30 ET.  Find out more and register at the conference site.
