Set Up Text Message Alerts for Calendar Events
A very convenient way to get reminders about any meetings or events on your calendar is through a text message, or SMS. To utilize this capability, you need to set up your mobile phone on Google calendar. And here's how:
In calendar, select Settings from the Settings Menu (Gear)
In the Calendar Settings screen, select Mobile Setup.
In the Mobile Setup screen, enter your phone number and click Send Verification Code. You'll receive a 5 or 6 digit code by test message to your phone which you enter into the second box and click Finish setup.
Viola! You're done. Now SMS - text messaging - is an option for any notifications.
